1x CPAP Heat Moisture Exchanger (HME)

Generic CPAP Heat Moisture Exchanger (HME)

The Z1/Z2 generic Heat Moisture Exchanger (HME) offers heated humidification without the use of a bulky humidifier. Unlike many other HMEs which work exclusively with the machine they are designed for, the Breas Z1/Z2 generic HME is compatible with all CPAP and BiPAP machines. It can be attached to any tubing and mask with standard 22mm connections. This HME is not washable and is effective at providing heated humidification for up to 7 days.

How does the CPAP HME work?
The HME traps heat and moisture from the user's exhaled breath, releasing them during the next inhalation to provide heat and humidity. Because of this design, the closer the Z1/Z2 HME is to the user, the more effective it is. To use this HME, simply attach it to the mask end of your CPAP tube prior to connecting the tubing to your mask.

1–10 of 10 Questions
Q. Is this humidifier compatible with top-hose masks like the ResMed N30i or P30i?
A. You can use it with that style mask but it does not provide the same humidification as it would with masks where the tube attaches at the front. Like the Eson 2 for example.
Q. I wanted to use this with ResMed P10, on an AirMini with a adapter and normal tube. Do I just connect this HME between the tube and the end of the P10 (pigtail tube)? Would it be too far away from the mouth so the functionality of this HME would be affected?
A. Yes, it goes between your tubing and the P10 connector! Feel free to give us a chat on our website OR call us at 1-866-936-3754 for faster assistance!
Q. Do I understand that this HME is not effective with the AirFit N20, which includes an all-of-a-piece quick-disconnect "elbow" and flexi-tube? I'm trying to make my AirMini as quiet and as comfortable as possible so I can use it rather than my ResMed AirSense 10. Is there any way around this -- or is there a nasal cushion similar to the AirFit N20 that WILL work with the Breas HME?
A. This depends on your Airmini set up (are you using the airmini tube connecter, standard tube and standard N20) OR do you have the Airmini with the N20 set up pack? Feel free to call us so we can help better explain what will best support you if you are having issues with the noise of your device. Our customer line is 1866-936-3754.
Q. Are there any nasal pillow masks that come apart near the mask to add a generic HME in there?
A. Unfortunately, the generic HME only fits between the hose and the mask. Nothing between the mask frame and the adapter of the mask. Unless you have the airmini. Which the Aifit P10 and the HumidX is closer to the nasal adapter.
Q. Can this HME be used on any machine or just the Breas Z2?
A. Yes! The Heat Moisture Exchanger for the Breas WILL work with any machine and mask, although not recommended for the masks with tube on top of the head.
Q. Will the universal HME work with my Transcend micro (travel) CPAP
A. If you are using a standard 6ft cpap tubing with the Micro, yes. The Transcend has its own HME kit as well.
Q. I have a Resmed Airsense 10. I’m going to use it in an RV and have added the side cover to disable the humidifier. Can this be used inline to add some humidity?
A. Yes. You'll want to be sure that the mask you're using connects to the hose close to the face. If it connects above the head or after a short extension tube, it will not be able to collect sufficient moisture to make a difference.
Q. Would this work with a resmed airsense 10 with climate line tubing? Or is this only for the z1/z2?
A. With the Airsense 10 you should have a humidifier and you would not want to use both the humidifier and this together along with a heated tube. Please contact our office for further questions.
Q. How can you tell when your HME is used up?
How does it work?
A. Suggested that you change your HME either weekly or when the breathe becomes hard to inhale or exhale. It would mean the blue part has been wet and dried to many times therefore needing to be changed.
Q. Will the HME work with the fisher and paykell Evora mask
A. Yes, it works with all masks.

Subject: HME
I recently purchased the Breas Z2 from Respshop to have for work as I am required to travel quite often. It has been a great addition as I am able to fit it in a carry on rather than needing to bring a suitcase like prior. I The only issue I found was I was more dry than normal which made longer trips a bit more uncomfortable since it does not take distilled water like my phone machine. I decided to phone in to the staff at Respshop to look for a solution, which is exactly what I got! They informed me of the heat moisture exchanger to place in line right before my mask that was able to provide me with some humidity and does not take up much space in my carry-on. My work trips are never more than a few days and each one lasts seven days which has been plenty for me. The prices at Respshop are always so reasonable. I likely would have avoided this issue from the beginning had I just called in since they knew exactly what I needed which is what I will be doing from now on. Thank you again, you know I will be back for more!

Subject: Heat Moisture Exchanger
I was in a conundrum. I really wanted to go on a trip but I am a CPAP user and I just couldn't imagine travelling with the CPAP and lugging distilled water too. I decided to do some research and I found RespShop's website. I found the ResMed AirMini Auto Travel CPAP. I was shocked to learn there was such a small cpap on the market. It is similar in size to a can of soda! I soon realised the convenience of size meant there was not a humidifier. I used humidification each night. Resmed had instead a heat moisture exchanger called Humidx. A waterless humidification was just brilliant. Unfortunately, to use the Humidx product I needed to use a Resmed mask. I believed my trip was no go because I loved my Fisher and Paykel Vitera mask and I did not want a new mask. I called into Respshop to confirm and they explained with a tube connector and a six foot tube I could use my own Vitera mask! Not only that but there was another HME I could use with this set up so I had humidification after all. What a great product!

Good product! It works but it doesn’t last long. As directions on the package you will need to change out the heat and moisture exchanger in 7 days. I do like the concept of not having to add water for moisture.

A good product as long as you assemble this product as close to the mask as possible. I do like this product and the concept about it.

This worked very will with the DreamStation Go. I used one for 5 days and it worked well. Now I can travel internationally without worrying about the need for taking distilled water.

The Z1 Heat and Moisture Exchanger works very well and is comfortable to use in place of a a full-size humidifer and CPAP machine. It's not the same as using a humidifier, but since I travel frequently for business, so the tradeoff to save space and weight is worth it.

Subject: Heat & Moisture Exchanger for ResMed Air Mini CPAP
I have only used this for about 5 night so far and the one thing I noticed (but it may not be related to the CPAP) was that my mouth would be very dry if I were to wake up during the night. I often use my big home CPAP without humidity during the summer so I do not think it was the fault of this H&M Exchanger. Long story short, after using the rental for a week I bought one of these units to use for travel in the future. Fantastic device!
