FAQ

How do I choose a chin strap?
When shopping for a chin strap, here are some key features to consider:

  1. Is the material comfortable and durable?
  2. What type of adjustments do you want?
  3. How many anchoring straps do you need?
  4. How easy is it to clean?
  5. What is your budget?

How do I clean my PureSom Adjustable Ruby Chin Strap?
For best results, clean your chin strap regularly.

  1. Hand wash with warm water and a mild laundry detergent or baby shampoo.
  2. Lay it flat to dry completely.
While there are neoprene cleaning materials available, they are usually not needed for cleaning your chin strap.

How do I fit my PureSom Adjustable Ruby Chin Strap?
  1. Open up the chinstrap, so it is flat, and make sure the thin strap points towards the top of the head. The wider strap will be on the bottom.
  2. Pull the chin cup over the chin.
  3. Close the top strap with the Velcro, adjust as needed.
  4. Close the wide back strap (this is sitting on the back of your neck), and adjust the Velcro as needed.
  5. Your ears will sit in the ear cutouts.

What type of CPAP mask should I use a chin strap with?
Chin straps are most helpful with nasal masks and nasal pillow masks. These masks cover your nose but leave your mouth free. If you tend to breathe through your mouth at night, a chin strap can help keep your mouth closed.

I had problems with my old chinstrap but once I switched to the Carefusion chinstraps I realized that my old one (Best in Rest chinstrap) was just bad and the one I'm using now should be the standard for all chinstraps.

With my old chinstrap, it used to fall off every night. In the morning, I would notice it's not on my face anymore and I would have to find where it is on my bed. My old chinstrap didn't work at all but I was so used to it that I thought that was normal. When I changed to the Carefusion chinstrap I was so surprised that it was still on my face every morning. It does its job very well and I have never experienced it fall off during the night.

The Carefusion chinstrap is also made very sturdy unlike my old chinstrap. I can tell the material is also very nice because it is soft but it is a very strong material.

There are only two main problems I have with this chinstrap. First, it's that after I wash my hair (I have long hair), it becomes more difficult for the chinstrap to stay on my face. I air dry my hair so maybe this has to do with it. Also I don't think this is a problem with only this chinstrap; other ones would also have the same problem. Second, two visible lines show up on my face in the morning from the chinstrap. This shows how tightly the chinstrap rests on my face throughout the night. It really does its job but I sometimes feel self conscious about the lines. They usually stay for about a few hours before they fade away.

Overall I am very satisfied with my chinstrap. I think this is probably one of the best you can get on the market for this price. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a chinstrap.

Very comfortable to wear. Over time, the velcro will weaken, but the material is soft and doesn't leave pressure marks on the face.

I bought this chin strap after talking with a Respshop representative. It does the job, and 2 good things to note are that it doesn't leave pressure marks on your face, and the velcro doesn't get tangled in your hair.

Subject: Scratchy
The velcro part at bottom of neck is scratchy. Tighten more to get an overlap which helps the irritation but then it’s too tight. The chin part comes just below the lips. Works but is uncomfortable.

If this is the best, hard to believe. Comes with no directions and not obvious how to put on. Rubbing hair off my head since large area contacts your hair right in front where you do not want to loose it. Leaves lots of marks; contrary to what others say.
