Amara Full Face CPAP Mask by Philips Respironics

The Amara Full Face Mask is one of the most secure and comfortable CPAP masks from Philips Respironics. The mask is also available with a gel cushion as the Amara Gel Full Face CPAP Mask. The gel cushion conforms comfortably to the contours of the face and is a great option if you have facial hair. The lightweight and adjustable headgear provides a customized fit to improve your sleep apnea therapy experience.

Gel or Silicone Cushion
With the Amara Full Face Mask, you can choose between the traditional silicone cushion or the gel cushion for a soft and enhanced seal. Both types of cushions are available in sizes petite, small, medium and large to fit a variety of CPAP users.

Adjustable Forehead Support
Philips Respironics incorporated an adjustable forehead pad into the Amara Full Face Mask. The device comes with a fine-glide button which lets you adjust the forehead pad depth by small increments for a lasting and effective seal. Keep your mask in place - all night.

Flexible Headgear
Easily customize your mask fit with the four-point adjustable, lightweight headgear and non-magnetic clips that securely connect the headgear to the mask frame. The headgear can be conveniently unclipped from the frame using just one hand for quick mask removal in the middle of the night.

Reviewer's Tip

CPAP users with facial hair and/or sensitive skin should consider the Amara Gel Full Face Mask. The gel cushion tends to provide a better seal on facial hair compared to silicone and the soft gel cushion is gentler on the skin.

FAQ

Will this mask block my field of vision?
You will be able to see the edge of the mask in your peripheral vision, but for the most part, no, it shouldn't disturb you from reading or watching tv.

Can I change the cushions?
Yes, you can switch from the silicone to the gel cushion, or vice versa, easily. The mask frame is designed to accommodate both, and different cushion sizes, so you'll be able to pick whichever one works best for you.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FACE MASK. THERE ARE ONLY 2 THINGS TO REMEMBER AND ARE

TO BE SURE GET HEADGEAR WITH WIDE STRIPS, CREATES A MUCH BETTER HOLD THAN THS SMALL ONES,
EASY TO ADD. BETTER HOLD, LARGER VELCROL CREATES FANTASTIC HOLD. IF YOUR MASK STRAPS
COME LOOSE DURING THE NIGHT, THAT WILL STOP THAT PROBLEM.
NEXT THING IS TO GET THE GE CUSHION, IT WILL CONFORM TO YOUR FACE SO YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY
AIR LEAKS. I HAVE JOINED THE RES-MED MY AIR CHECK. EACH DAY IT TELLS THE RESULTS OF YOU NIGHT
RESULTS. TIME MACHINE USED- QUALITY OF MASK SEAL-EVENTS PER HOUR, AND TIMES YOU TOOK MASK.
IT LOOKS AT THIS AND GRADES YOUR THERAPY PRGRESS

The Amara Full Face mask is an excellent choice for me since Respironics also includes Reduced Size for the masks, which fits better unless you have wider face area then you can use the standard sizes, ie, Large, Medium, Small, or Large/Rs, Medium/Rs, Small/Rs, and Petite/Rs. You know how it is when looking for your right size, sometimes size Small is still too big and now Small/Rs fits me perfectly! I chose the Gel mask because it is softer and it feels more comfortable to me. The entire mask is very light compare to other masks of similar shape.

I tried every other face mask out there, but this is the only one that I could use because I'm a side sleeper. It also has a great seal, but I found sizing was challenging and had to go with the small mask, so I have to be careful about how tight I make the mask.

Subject: Philips Amara full face CPAP mask
It has shown a mask leak every night since it was put into use. Still wake up with dry throat. Will be going back to nasal mask.

We are sorry to hear that, it may be the incorrect size. Please contact our Respiratory Therapists at 1-866-936-3754 for some suggestions.

Simply put the excilation port is too small as is the holes in it. Its quiet (its intended point) but your breathing is labored.
